Join Opera Atelier as Measha Brueggergosman makes her Mozart operatic debut with one of the most dramatic roles ever written for the soprano voice of Elettra, in Idomeneo. Described as one of those works that even a genius of the highest rank, like Mozart could write only once in his life, the opera tells the story of Idomeneo, the Greek hero of the Trojan War who is forced to choose between the life of his son and a terrible promise he has made to Neptune, the god of the sea. This production promises to be a once in a lifetime event and will feature the only man in the world capable of singing the role of Idamante - the extraordinary American male soprano, Michael Maniaci.
Our thrilling international cast also includes dramatic tenor Kresimir Spicer as Idomeneo, soprano Peggy Kriha Dye as Ilia, bass baritone Curtis Sullivan as Neptune and Artists of Atelier Ballet. Andrew Parrott conducts Tafelmusik Orchestra for North America's first fully staged production of Idomeneo performed on period instruments.
Ms. Brueggergosman's appearance generously underwritten by Jerry and Joan Lozinski.
