This past season, Opera Atelier embarked on a groundbreaking journey into a new century.
As part our ongoing mission to shatter the preconceptions about period productions, we presented the first work from the Romantic era in our company’s 26-year history. Weber’s iconic masterpiece Der Freischütz (The Marksman) was paired with a revival of our popular production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Both stories revolve around a young man who battles supernatural forces in his pursuit of his beloved – though neither path is smooth, true love triumphs in the end.
Both productions featured a spectacular array of Canadian and international singers, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and the Artists of Atelier Ballet.
This season provided our audiences with a matchless theatrical experience that was at once entirely new and absolutely identifiable as the work of Opera Atelier.
