Silver Anniversary Campaign

What would you give to help the only organization of its kind in the world,  take on the world?

Opera Atelier does what no one else does – or can.

Was it really a quarter century ago that two Toronto dancers started an opera and ballet company that would bring to life the neglected masterpieces of the 17th and 18th centuries?

Not only did Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg share that impossible dream, they presented these operas in a unique period style, by combining singing and dancing into a single fluid experience.

Today, Opera Atelier is not only the world’s pre-eminent opera-ballet company specializing in period productions, it has created a market where none existed before – or rather, an enthusiastic fan base numbering in the thousands, plus strong corporate and government support, and the confidence to mine the desire of music-lovers to go both wide and deep in their love for Monteverdi, Lully, Gluck, Mozart and More.

Opera Atelier has no shortage of talent, dreams or star-power. Indeed, it has shaped the careers of artists from Russell Braun to Measha Brueggergosman. It has even introduced baroque opera to Japan, Korea and Singapore and performed at the 100th anniversary of the BBC Proms.

All Opera Atelier lacks to become Toronto’s toast to the world is…… money.

For 25 years, it has produced ravishing ballet and opera on a shoe-string. But in order to offer a three-production season, expand its mandate to produce 19th century works, and put its finances on a firmer footing so that it can continue to delight us with the masterworks of French baroque opera, it needs your support – now and in a major new way through the Silver Anniversary Campaign.

So when you’re thinking of impossible dreams, think how well Opera Atelier has created the stuff that dreams are made of.
