Dear friends of Opera Atelier,
Jeannette and I want to thank all of you personally for joining us on May 20 for OA's first virtual showcase! Together/Apart was very close to all of our hearts and we were so happy to be able to take on a creative project with our favourite artists, having been denied the opportunity to produce Handel's The Resurrection due to COVID-19.
We particularly wish to thank those of you who donated your Resurrection tickets back to us, as well as those of you who have made personal donations over the past two months - and a big thank you to all of our subscribers, ticket buyers and patrons who supported us by tuning in.
It meant a great deal to all of the artists involved to be able to create something authentic and genuine for all of you, and we also want to express our thanks for the many words of thanks and encouragement that were sent to us during the performance and over the past weeks. Strangely, although we were unable to be in the theatre together, we nevertheless felt strangely connected as we experienced your reactions in real time, albeit virtually.
It is heartening to know that daily, the health situation improves and becomes more positive and we look forward to celebrating with all of you in the theatre, face to face, in the not too distant future.
Sending you every best wish,
Marshall Pynkoski, C.M Co-Artistic Director
Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg, C.M. Co-Artistic Director
P.S: One of Opera Atelier's longtime supporters sent us this marvelous quote by Isak Dinesen which sums up the feelings of all of the artists involved in Together/Apart.
"To all the world, there goes one long cry from the heart of an artist: give me leave to do my utmost."
Together/Apart was hosted by Opera Atelier Co-Artistic Directors Marshall Pynkoski and Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg.
