As our audience members plan their return to live productions this fall, all of us at Opera Atelier want you to know the protocols we have put in place to ensure your maximum comfort and safety!
The Elgin Theatre is equipped with an independent air handling unit that is isolated from the rest of the building.
The air handler is equipped with MERV 4 or better filtration that filters all the air that passes through the system.
The Elgin has agreed to open its doors a minimum of thirty minutes prior to the start of our fall production of Dido and Aeneas. This way our audience will not be subjected to overcrowding while waiting to enter the theatre. The Elgin Theatre will also open and encourage people to utilize the theatre’s multiple exits (including the Victoria Street exit opening directly onto the street) in order to avoid any bottlenecking.
We have purposely chosen to open our season with Henry Purcell's one-hour masterpiece, Dido and Aeneas. The performance will run without intermission. This avoids overcrowding that is often experienced during intermission.
OA has ensured that all of the Elgin staff will be masked for Dido and Aeneas. Opera Atelier will also have KN-95 masks on hand to be distributed free of charge to any of our patrons who wish to wear them.
All of us at Opera Atelier look forward to welcoming you back to the Elgin Theatre in an environment that puts your mind at ease!
